Sing with Us

At the NBYC, we're always on the lookout for new members, and if you love harmony, or just want to give it a try, we'd love to have you aboard. It couldn't be easier to get singing with the chorus, we're sure you'll be ringing those chords in no time! But don't take our word for it, see below for all the info you'll need, and get started in the wonderful world of barbershop harmony!

Who Can join?

The NBYC is open to any guys up to the age of 26. You don't need to have any experience, our only requirement is a love of singing, and a sense of fun! We get fantastic coaching from some of the most talented barbershoppers there are, along with help from all corners of BABS, to make sure you get the most out of your time with the chorus.

How Much Will It Cost?

That's the brilliant part, coming along to your first rehearsal is completely free, without charge, won't cost you a thing! And we understand it can be a long way to travel (Birmingham isn't convenient for everyone) so in some cases we may be able to help you with the cost, or even arrange a lift. You'll never know if you don't ask.

The NBYC is a part of BABS (the British Association of Barbershop Singers), who give us a tremendous amount of support and encouragement. If you sing with the NBYC regularly, we would like you to become a member of the Association (required for the major events of the year). Keep an eye on this page, or get in touch with the committee for more details. If you already sing with a barbershop chorus in the UK, you may already be a member!

How Do I Join?

Just come along, we try to rehearse once or twice a month at Grive Vale School, Birmingham. Keep an eye on the Diary to see when we're next meeting.

The guys in the chorus are always eager to give new members a warm welcome, but if you want to get to know some of the guys before coming to a rehearsal, just introduce yourself in the Forums, or if you're on Facebook, check out Our Facebook Group and say hi.

If you're really eager, and want to get stuck in learning our songs before the next rehearsal, we have all our sheet music and learning tracks online in the Members' area.

How Do I Get The Music?

To get sheet music and learning tracks for the NBYC songs, you'll need to get access to the Members' area.

First, create an account, you'll need to have your e-mail address ready. Once you've registered and logged in, drop us a message on the Forums, or send Tom an email at: tom.w.elliott@gmail.com (remember to tell him your login name!), and we'll give your account access to the members' area.

Once you're in the Members' section, the Learning Materials page provides downloads for all our learning MP3s and sheet music (PDF). We have tapes for each voice part, some of the more adventurous members even learn all four!

How Do I Find Out More?

If you can't find out what you need to know from this site, feel free to get in touch with Carl, the chorus secretary, his e-mail address is: carjam2005cc@hotmail.com

Alternatively, any of the guys will be happy to have a chat, just say hi in the Forums, or look us up on Facebook,
